What Is Your Inspiration?

Post by adivie »

I guess this is mostly directed toward those of us who have commissioned customs from a producer, whether he be Dastardly Dave or another studio master (or she). Buying a video is more of finding what strikes your interests. For the custom, you have to come up with the script, outline, model, clothes, setting, etc. What helps you put together a bondage video?

For me, I take examples from movies. ScreenTies.com has a HUGE selection of bondage video clips from the mainstream media. I see what strikes my interests but maybe did not turn out the way I would have liked. Maybe if the direction of the action went this way instead of that way, for instance. I would like to see what would happen if the direction went the way I intended.

Yes, that's pretty much how I see it.

In mainstream media, potential DID situations usually fail to deliver, and even when they do, they rarely meet our hopes or expectations in full. Specialist videos from the likes of B-in-B always deliver, so we do get a DID situation, but then we refine our requirements for such things as the bondage, the clothes, the outcome, to make something close to a perfect clip.

But the overall scenario is invariably a twist on something we've seen somewhere else. It's just lots more bondage-y :D.

I sometimes take inspiration from movies I have seen. It is rare indeed that they ever really deliver, but if they did, for the likes of us, they would probably lose most of their audience. The Disappearance Of Alice Creed certainly was not a popular movie in the U.S., despite having Gemma Arterton starring. It didn't even pick up $1M worldwide. Rupture with Noomie Rapace only made $31,000. The Bad Samaritan managed to pull in $4.6M but this must have been a fraction of the production costs. These things just ain't popular with joe public.

We were discussing this on DiDVids not too long ago. It does seem that bondage-themed movies do not do well in the USA. However, a lucrative market exists for bondage-themed videos and materials. It is, almost, like some are not willing to openly admit they enjoy bondage.

THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ALICE CREED

We were discussing how Alice Creed seemed to be unpopular except with a niche market. It only had three actors and grossed a measly $1M or so at the box office. Yet, the movie has spawned two foreign remakes and a music video remake. I believe people were more afraid to see the movie for fear of being labeled.

For me, the movie is quite thrilling. Gemma Arterton is grabbed off the street in England and taken to a safe house by her two kidnappers. She is handcuffed and tied, spread-eagle, to a bed and has a hood over her head. Her two kidnappers grab scissors and cut of all of her clothes, leaving Gemma completely naked. Her hood is pulled off and she is shown to have a ballgag in her mouth. A newspaper is placed on her and photos are taken of her to send to her family for a ransom. Her kidnappers return the hood to her head and leave the room, leaving Gemma to struggle all night totally nude.

The next day, she is given a track suit to put on. Gemma realizes one of the kidnappers is a former boyfriend who had gone to prison. She begins to play him against his partner. Soon, the two do not trust each other and are watching their hostage with one eye while keeping the other eye on the partner.

This would be hard to make in one video. It would have to be made in multiple parts but it does seem like it could be done by Dastardly Dave. I am just not sure how it would, ultimately, sell since Clips4Sale will have a fit over MANY scenes in the videos. However, we can still take inspiration from certain parts for our custom video requests.

Gemma Arterton is beautiful and a fine actress, but let's face it, she's no Jasmine, is she??? ;)

Well, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see Jasmine play the Gemma role in an adaptation of "Alice Creed". She will not go full nude as Gemma did but that is good with me. Jasmine would play the part very well, I believe. She could turn Rick against Dastardly Dave and then take off with the ransom money as Rick and Dave take care of each other. The full movie may have to play in multiple parts like "The Bondage Web" or "Haunted".

That is an idea. I think I may write script for that for when Jasmine is finished with her backlog.

I do not mean to complain here since it does not apply to Beauties-In-Bondage or any of Dave's other studios. This, mostly, has to do with Clips4Sale changing the rules and regulations so often and making them more restrictive. I find it harder and harder to develop any meaningful custom draft that will not have to be butchered, trimmed back, or shelved because C4S will not allow for certain segments and the final product may not sell well by itself in Dave's stores.

That is one main reason why I push Beauties-In-Bondage on my social media and not Clips4Sale. People need to see what Dave has to offer, not the watered down version as seen on C4S. We need to keep the true bondage themes going strong.

I have heard so many producers who are getting burned out with the strict rules and regulations imposed by C4S. It is even ruining their desire to create more content. It is almost, as if, they were forced into making these movies and not because they wanted to produce the clips. Customs are becoming a big thing now as making content for C4S is not getting them anywhere now. Then again, the customs pile on and ladies like poor Jasmine get backlogged with requests to create.

I want something that will help me to visualize and see my inspiration come alive in video. Beauties-In-Bondage has helped there. However, C4S demands certain elements be removed because it shows a woman knocked out, in distress, fearful, etc. For me, the bondage is not consensual on the woman's part as she is bound to hold her still and keep her from interfering. I will not go for abusing the woman or hurting her. Just so many elements have to be removed from my drafts that it is hard to be inspired to write something that can make it through C4S censors.

As I've mentioned before, I can do a number of things such as chloroforming/knock outs and a girl looking unconscious, as long as I film two versions where the second is sanitized. As long as those "forbidden" sequences are not more than a few minutes, it's fine to include them. If they constitute a large part of the movie, then my choices are more limited. In that case, I have no choice but to charge more for a custom, if we are willing to film it.

There is a counter argument to be made for Clips4Sale. Much as the limitations may vex us, I suspect some visitors to their site are more comfortable knowing that they won't find extreme content. Certainly, the number of visitors has increased for me, and the revenue along with it. This may also be down to better management by the new owners. Either way, there is no financial reason to withdraw from using their services, only an aesthetic one.
