Cadence is a new reporter trying to make a name for herself, and entirely without her editor's knowledge, she is pursuing a lead that has led her to a house on the outskirts of town. She believes the man who lives there has some knowledge on who is committing a series of art robberies over the past few months, and she decides to ask him outright. While she is encouraging him to share what he knows, she notices a painting that looks very familiar. A Gainsborough. Surely it's just a copy, unless... By the time the truth dawns on her and she realizes she is in a precarious situation, it's too late. It is not long before Cadence is tied to a chair and gagged. She can't be allowed to leave and notify the authorities of her discovery, so she can look forward to a long period of captivities. A pity she did not tell anyone where she was going.
