Dave is way behind on his mortgage payments and the bank is threatening to foreclose on his loan. As a final attempt to reach an agreement, bank representative Rachel Adams arrives with a new proposal which Dave must sign there and then, as well as paying off a small percentage of his debt, if he is to avoid losing his home. Ostensibly to check that he has enough funds, Dave leaves the room for a minute. When he returns, the situation changes dramatically. Rachel is now on the defensive, and Dave has decided he is tired of being persecuted by this financial overlord. He tells Rachel that she will have to write off his loan if she ever wants to leave, but before that, he plans to keep her tied up for a while to teach her some humility. Rachel does her best to reason with him as he binds her to a chair, but he refuses to listen. Her attempts at changing his mind end abruptly when he pushes a cloth into her mouth before gagging her with microfoam tape. Happy that he has dealt with the immediate situation, Dave leaves Rachel alone to consider her situation, pulling against tight ropes with little hope of escape. Her muffled cries will be heard by no one.
