What Got You Started?

Just a little curiosity poking here. Is there a particular movie scene or situation that propelled you to seeking more Damsel-in-Distress in the medias? For me, I had always seen the damsel getting caught and bound. I mean, Scooby-Doo had Daphne who always wound up the victim of the latest villain.
However, the scene that got me really interested was Marcia Gay Harden in "Fever". Marcia's ex-boy-friend is released from prison but someone behind bars wants him to preform another job. To entice him into accepting the latest job, three thugs kidnap Marcia. She bound with her arms behind her and placed on a bed. She is gagged, originally, but manages to convince the nicer of the three hoodlums to keep the gag out of her mouth. Later, when the thugs catch wind that her ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend are actually looking for them and not completing the job, they decide to kill her. However, one hoodlum decides to have some fun with Marcia before ending her life.
Marcia was outstanding in playing the damsel. She tries her best to get loose and, also, remain ungagged during her captivity. She is greatly concerned and fearful when her captor decides to check out her goods before killing her. Fortunately, she is rescued in time before the plan can be carried out completely by the thugs.
