Storylines v Set-ups

So, you've got a custom video featuring, for example, Jasmine. Do you just want to see Ms St James in a sexy outfit, bound, gagged and struggling, maybe with an occasional change of scenery or a different tie-up? Or would you prefer to see Jasmine attempt to escape, perhaps succeed and do a bit of acting while out of the ropes, before being re-captured?
I increasingly tend towards the latter viewpoint and find the presence of more of a story adds to the experience of the whole. The quality of acting available here is a plus-point, which may not apply to other studios. Of course I am greedy, so I still want to have a variety of bondage situations, models in different sexy outfits (and out of them, too, if I'm honest), but my 30-minute custom probably doesn't demand 29 minutes of bondage now. More like 26, these days
What does anyone else think?

I agree with you. I like my custom or video to have a point to the capture and not just be a struggling, clothes-cutting video. Yes, in agreement to another point you made, I still tend to like the video to be 90%-95% bondage and 5%-10% plot points. The plots can be subtle as to leaving the audience guessing why the model was captured, exactly, but give enough details to know it is a sinister reason that will not end well for her if she remains in her captor's hands. In other words, I have never been displeased with Dave's productions. He does provide those plot points necessary. Other studios have simply tied up a model for the simple purpose of attaching clothespins and chains to her while she is bound.

Horses for courses. Nothing wrong with a model enduring endless bondage (and a bit of pretend torture) - I'd watch that. But, if possible (and certainly if I'm bankrolling it), I'd like some acting, some plot, some motivation for the two to meet, along with plenty of the bound, gagged and struggling thing. That's why this site is such a good fit for what I want to see.

Amen to that. I like a story to go with my video. Too many studios are strictly about the bondage and discipline. There is no plot or story. I grew up on movies and TV shows. Give me a story to go with the video. Even if the video is just about the bondage, struggling, and escape attempt, if dialogue is added to the video to create a story or plot as to why the model was captured (even if not explicitly stated but hinted to in the dialogue) and it is stated or strongly implied that she must escape or something nefarious will happen, either to her or because she could not sound the warning, the video is improved immeasurably, in my opinion. Give me a story and plot. This site has all of that to offer. Most other studios I have visited do not.

You really need the quality of production and acting to make the plot work, both of which we have here. I will credit Seductive Studios, That Fetish Girl and Anton Video for delivering on both of these. Some other studios don't manage both, or indeed either, so maybe it suits them to concentrate on the bondage...

That is what makes the studios different. Some only want to show the Bondage. Dave, and others, like a story to go with it to explain the details of the Bondage. I, myself, do not ask for a credible story-line or plot. Sometimes, the sillier the story, the cuter and better the Bondage will be in the video.

I might disagree with you on the need for a credible plot - I DO like to have one.
Then again, my definition of 'credible' may be vastly different to that of others - I'm sure I've noticed a virtual eyebrow-raise or two when suggesting plot-lines in the past...

I might have been too hasty with the "credible" word. I have also mentioned that some of the sillier plots are interesting because the craziness of the story. I mean, to me, these are stories and videos to entice the fantasies of customers and fans. Does the plot have to seem "real" to be worthwhile to own?

I have noticed a difference in video quality, as far as acting & such, regarding videos with a story-line and videos without one. A story-line, to me, gives more meaning to the project than simply bringing in a model, tying her up, and then doing all sorts of evil deeds to her. However, even videos with a story-line, credible or not, will not get my sale if it involves torture, like nipple-clamps, titty-twising, hai-pulling, head-smacking, etc. There is no need for that, in my opinion.

I rediscovered this thread gem from GB2691 from way back in the day. I thought this topic needed some further discussion in lieu of the new content we have headed our way. It is an outstanding subject that I do not know why was not pursued further.
I am taking this along the lines of customs I commission. I ALWAYS have a storyline. Even though the plot may be cheesy and would not truly be realistic, it is the fun of the story that I enjoy. I enjoy Dave's content because he has a story to be told that is fun. We are after the bondage, not the realism. If I wanted realism on screen, I would watch documentaries, which I do at times.
Set-up, I would say, is almost as important to me. I love a well-dressed woman bound & gagged. Strip her down to her bra & panties and you have a winner with me!
Anybody else have any ideas on this topic?
